This free yoga playlist is inspired after a track by DJ Krush, an absolute maestro on the turntables, who I will be seeing live here in Portland next week.
The mix follows the trajectory of being frontloaded with a little electronica and a lot of reggae before diving into a brief sultry soul dip into classic Otis. Transitioning with creative and spacey instrumental indie rock from the fun-loving Apples in Stereo we dive back into darker electronica with Booka Shade and Burial. As class cools down we get more lyrics and “non-traditional” yoga songs, a little Rolling Stones, Josh Ritter, and The Ronettes before finishing with two of the more gorgeous songs I know — Bon Iver’s “For Emma” and M Ward’s “I’ll Be Yr Bird”. It works.
