Into the Stars — Your Weekly Horoscope (December 26, 2016–January 1, 2017)

We’ve arrived at that week between the Christmas and Hanukkah observances (and Yule and Kwanzaa and all the many holy days…) and New Year’s Day.

It always feels like an in between time, where we should be getting rest and spending quality time with the people we love most, but we are often coerced into social events and getting so much done and we give up the quiet reflective time nature has orchestrated for us. This week try to observe and listen, tune in and ground down.

Mercury has recently turned retrograde and Capricorn season has just begun. There has been plenty of Saturn (discipline) and Uranus (unpredictability) energy present and it is still around. This week brings us to the Capricorn new moon, the cosmic re-start button for all the sea goats out there and a good time for all of us to set intentions for a new cycle beginning and a new numerical year coming up.

The new moon will be on Wednesday night (10:53pm PST). Then on Thursday morning (1:29am PST) the planet of originality, Uranus, turns direct in Aries. We should experience a positive infusion of energy and an impulse toward revolution or revolutionary thinking.

On Saturday we celebrate New Year’s Eve and the end of this absurdly irritating and tumultuous year. New Year’s Day brings a new year altogether, with the new number 2017 being a 10, which is a 1 year numerologically, or a point of initiation and a new start.

Stay tuned in February of 2017 for your yearly overview, when we welcome the Year of the Fire Rooster.

Aries & Aries Rising: This week we have a Capricorn new moon on Wednesday night, activating change in your tenth house of success. Set intentions that will grow over the next six months that will empower your career and increase your material success. You could also have a fresh start with a father figure or male mentor during this time. Put energy into your profession and public standing now and you should see the pay off in the coming months.

Uranus, the planet of unpredictability, will turn direct (forward) in your sign on Thursday. You’re pretty used to having the planet of originality and unconventionality in your sign now, since it has been there since 2011, and will remain there until 2018. With the change of direction you may experience an influx of changes and destabilization in life in the coming months. And near the station day, Thursday, be on alert: try to avoid conflict and violence in words and actions, even though you may be provoked. Fine tune your most inventive ideas and be welcoming to new people, situations and energy into life.

Taurus & Taurus Rising: We have a new moon in Capricorn on Wednesday, illuminating your house of mental exploration. New moons signify new beginnings, and the intentions that you set now will grow for the next six months, until the Capricorn full moon. The themes for you for this new moon will be higher education, travel and adventure, mental pursuits, and freedom and truth. The day before the new moon, when the moon is darkest, release all blockages you notice that could slow your progress toward your dreams. Then create a new vision for your life and move toward it.

On Thursday Uranus, the planet of revolution, turns direct in Aries and your house of sorrows and self-undoing. Look at any self-destructive habits or patterns and avoid falling into old addictions or self-defeating behaviors. Be mindful that station days, like Thursday when Uranus turns direct, can be particularly exaggerated with the planet’s energies, so prepare for a potentially volatile day.

Gemini & Gemini Rising: There’s a Capricorn new moon this Wednesday in your house of merging. New moons activate a new cycle, so the intentions you set at this moon will grow for the next six months until the completion of the cycle at the full moon in Capricorn. The new moon themes for you will be sex, death and rebirth, wealth, spiritual transformation, and intimacy. This is a good time to plant seeds for a new joint venture or to deepen your commitment to your partner.

Uranus, the revolutionary planet, turns direct in Aries on Thursday in your eleventh house of friendship and groups. Thursday could be tricky, as station days create an exaggeration of that planet’s energies, meaning that there could be volatility, aggression or conflict. Be mindful about your interactions on social media on Thursday, and watch for discontent within the organizations you’re involved in or even amongst your friends. By the weekend, as Uranus settles into forward motion again, you should start to feel the infusion of energy into your friendships and your long term dreams for your life.

Cancer & Cancer Rising: This week we have a Capricorn new moon on Wednesday night, activating change in your relationship house. New moons bring new beginnings, and the intentions you set now will grow over the next six months until the end of this cycle, when we have a Capricorn full moon. The themes for your intentions will be about partnerships, harmony and connection. With both the sun and retrograde Mercury already lighting up this part of your chart, you should have no trouble coming up with potent intentions. This is a great time to reflect on and redefine your alliances. If I had to recommend one single day for making a commitment, making things official or making a big relationship decision during Mercury’s retrograde cycle, this would be the day.

On Thursday the planet of revolution, Uranus, turns direct finally in Aries, which is your house of achievement. You may run into some unexpected changes at work, but these shifts will actually work out in your favor in the long run. Try to stay grounded during this destabilized period of sudden change and transformation. Your material success can absolutely increase while Uranus is here, until 2018.

Leo & Leo Rising: This week we have a Capricorn new moon on Wednesday night, highlighting your health and wellness. New cycles are initiated at new moons, and the intentions you set at the new moon will grow and expand over the next six months. For you the themes will have to do with clarity and organization and your health. Mercury is retrograde in this part of your chart, so it may not be the time to start working out aggressively if you’ve been stagnant for months. Instead make a plan and make arrangements. Get your life organized and sign up for fitness classes and prepare to get your eating habits back on track as well.

The planet of surprises, Uranus, turns direct in Aries on Thursday in your ninth house of education. Thursday is a station day, since it is when Uranus will turn direct, and typically these are the days that can be most uncomfortable and exaggerated; guard against aggression and losing your temper. By the weekend you should have a sense of the increased energy fueling your educational and mental pursuits and the adventures you want to have.

Virgo & Virgo Rising: We have a Capricorn new moon coming up on Wednesday in your house of sexual and artistic expression. New moons initiate new cycles, so the intentions that you set now will grow and expand over the next six months. Your personal themes for this new moon will be love and romance, sex and seduction, passion and creativity. Get clear on what you want in these areas and make it happen.

Of course Mercury is recently retrograde in this same part of your chart, so you may be experiencing entanglements or confusion in these areas now, but it will clear and you’ll need a plan.

Uranus, the ruler of the unexpected, turns direct in Aries this Thursday in your intense house of intimacy and will make an interesting trine with Saturn in your domestic house. There is no way to know how that might unfold, but it could be a time where you’re pushed to make a big decision about a relationship, either moving on or making a commitment, or you could combine your resources and finances with your partner.

Libra & Libra Rising: We have a Capricorn new moon this week on Wednesday in your house of home. All new moons represent new beginnings, and if you set intentions now, they will grow for the next six months into form. Your personal new moon themes will be along the lines of home and family, what makes you feel at home, important women and mother-figures, and security in general.

Mercury is recently retrograde in this same part of your chart, so there could certainly be some tension or misunderstandings on the homefront, but you can use your Libra charm to smooth things over.

Uranus, the planet of revolution, turns direct in Aries on Thursday in your relationship house. Where has stagnation or petrification set in in your relationships? A bold move may be called for now. Both your love and business partnerships will need some examination and a possible revolution. The planet of change also makes an opposition with expansive Jupiter in your sign starting on Monday, and you may be dealing with sudden changes or you may feel the need to express your individuality at any cost, even if that means ending a relationship.

Scorpio & Scorpio Rising: This week we have a Capricorn new moon on Wednesday night, activating change in your house of communication. New moons bring new beginnings, and the intentions you set now will grow over the next six months until the end of this cycle, when we have a Capricorn full moon. The themes for your moon will be about self-expression and ideas, travel and technology, and family. This is a good time to plan out travel excursions, study opportunities, or family gatherings.

With retrograde Mercury also in this part of your chart, it may not be the best time to do the actual traveling right now, until Mercury turns direct in January.

Uranus, the radical planet, turns direct in Aries on Thursday in your health and wellness sector, stirring up some changes in that department. Some possibilities could be that your stress levels reach a boiling point, forcing you to take time off and rest, or a health crisis could arise, or alternatively you could finally give up that addictive habit that has been nagging at you, because now it’s time.

Sagittarius & Sagittarius Rising: This week we have a Capricorn new moon on Wednesday night, illuminating your second house of money. New moons bring new beginnings, and the intentions you set now will grow over the next six months until the end of this cycle, at the Capricorn full moon. Your personal new moon themes will be about your income, your finances, your career, and general stability.

Mercury is retrograde in this same area, so you may not be able to implement all the changes needed now, or start the big project, but in January things will clear. Try to avoid making big investments right now and hold off of signing any important business or legal contracts until Mercury turns direct.

The planet of change, Uranus, turns direct in Aries on Thursday in your house of creativity and sex and makes a few aspects with Saturn and Jupiter that can stir up volatility, high drama. Prepare for some big changes with Uranus in the spotlight. And be careful on Thursday, the station day, when Uranus turns from retrograde to direct, as we could experience an increase in aggression or violence.

Capricorn & Capricorn Rising: This is your week, Capricorn. The sun has just entered your sign, kicking off Capricorn season on the Winter Solstice, and this week there’s a new moon in your sign and first house. This is your own personal reset button, since you only get a new moon in your sign while the sun is in your sign once a year. Set intentions at the new moon that invoke your most heartfelt wishes and what you vision for your life on a fundamental level. Watch these seeds grow over six months until your Capricorn full moon when they will come to fruition.

Mercury is retrograde in your sign of course, so you may feel hesitant to dream so big right now since you may be experiencing misunderstandings in your self-expression, but that will clear in January.

Uranus, the planet of disruption turns direct in Aries this week on Thursday in your house of home, bringing some potential changes. Uranus makes an alignment with expansive Jupiter on Monday, so you may feel pulled between your aspirations and commitments at work and your home and family.

Aquarius & Aquarius Rising: We have a new moon in Capricorn this week on Wednesday, landing in your house of rest and closure; new moons typically signify new beginnings, the start of a new lunar cycle. For you, since the moon is in your twelfth house, you may feel more attuned with the dark moon leading up to the new moon. This is a time for purging, letting go, releasing all self-defeating habits and patterns, and to rest up for your birthday season coming up after Capricorn’s. This is your time to clear out all of the disappointments and resentments of the past year.

Mercury is retrograde in this same house, so you are likely coping with the confusion and miscommunications of this time with self-care and solitude already.

Uranus, your weirdo ruling planet, finally turns direct in Aries, your house of communication. The radical planet makes alignments with Saturn as well as Jupiter, making things much more interesting. Make sure to choose your words carefully and prepare for some unexpected changes and possible destabilization, which you’re kinda used to by now, after the couple of years you’ve had, Aquarius. This week, do whatever it takes to take care of yourself and try to get some rest and maybe even pampering!

Pisces & Pisces Rising: This week we welcome a new moon in Capricorn to your eleventh house of alliances and allegiances; set nine to thirteen new moon intentions for this cycle and watch them unfold over the next six months. Your personal themes for the new moon could be about your long-term dreams, friendship, idealism, and intellectual pursuits.

Mercury is retrograde in this same area of your chart, so take a news and social media fast, just temporarily. Since Mercury rules the past, it is likely that an ex or three could come out of the woodwork during this time, so be aware. And just because someone shows up again does not mean it’s a sign you should be together…

Uranus, the planet of the unexpected, turns direct in Aries on Thursday. This affects your second house of finances. This could bring a time of big changes and volatility regarding your financial state. Hold off on big investments or risky business ventures, and you may need to rethink your spending and saving habits for now. Don’t be overwhelmed if money matters feel chaotic right now, these changes will be for the best in the long run.
