In this 100 Hour Advanced Teacher Training, students will take and learn how to teach a “whole” class for the mind, body, and soul. Learn creative but safe sequencing, building from basics to advanced asanas, including arm balances and inversions. Explore pranayama techniques, meditation practices…even the harmonium. Review anatomy with a medical expert, explore classic yoga texts and sequences, personal meditation, chanting, and community building. Expect to develop physical strength through a constant practice and follow a daily meditation practice. Adjustments and teaching technique will be covered in diagnostic sessions.
Lectures will be given on classic yoga texts
A personal meditation practice will be required
Mudras and chanting for meditation
Prepare dharma talks to integrate into class, putting philosophic principles into a practical place on the mat.
Reviewed with a medical expert with a personal understanding of the yoga practice
Creative but safe sequencing will be explored, prepping the body for advanced poses while still maintaining the structure of class
Expect to cover “advanced” asanas, including arm balances and inversions, and to practice with consistency
An introduction to the the Ayervedic system will be offered and a peaceful diet encouraged. Pranayama techniques, their intentions, and contraindictions
Ritual and its usefulness.
Playing the harmonium and other devotional tools will be introduced.
The chakra system and kosha system will be reviewed.
Community: We will discuss the components of a community-minded class and what steps the teacher can take to create & preserve a positive community.
Emotions: We’ll discuss tools for creating a safe space to address emotions.
Additionally, teacher students will go through diagnostic sessions to improve their teaching skills. We’ll touch on voice, adjustments, word choice, sequencing, structure, and use of tools such as music, meditation, and more in class.
